Research / exploration

Keep authority over
your accumulated intelligence.

Cognitive sovereignty asks whether individuals, organizations and societies retain control as their use of AI deepens.

What must remain yours?

Knowledge. Identity. Policies. Skills. Memory. Decisions.

The September position paper asks how these assets can remain portable across models and providers, with explicit rights, oversight and institutional accountability.

An open question for future work

The paper identifies cognitive asset portability and control boundaries as a gap in the current portfolio. It proposes exploring a study group and scoping a PAR if warranted. This site does not represent that proposal as a chartered group or approved standard.

What success could look like

  • Change providers while retaining accumulated knowledge and agent identity.
  • Make delegated authority and human intervention points explicit.
  • Keep evidence of decisions and responsibility across system boundaries.
  • Preserve competition at the model, agent, application and service layers.

Help shape the intelligence
we will all depend on.
